The Destination: Singapore has always prioritised sustainability and placed it at the forefront of its long-term plan. In 2009, we launched the first Sustainable Singapore Blueprint to continuously outline strategies that will improve our green footprint by year 2030. Green measures are now woven into the infrastructure of the economy, with emphasis placed on reducing waste and increasing the use of renewable energy sources like solar power. Businesses are also rewarded for sustainable business practices as the government ramps up efforts to create a green economy with green jobs.
The Venue: Sands Expo and Convention Centre (Marina Bay Sands) is BCA Green Mark Platinum certified. It is Singapore’s first carbon-neutral venue and offers help with green event efforts.
Transportation: We encourage taking public transport. Most participating hotels as well as the Sands Expo & Convention Centre are accessible by public transport. The nearest MRT station to Sands Expo is Bayfront MRT Station (CE1 on Circle Line / DT1 on Downtown Line). Taxis and private-hire cars are also available on ride-hailing apps.
Paperless Communications: Please regularly refer to the APAA 2023 website and your email for any updates. There will also be free Wi-Fi access inside the Sands Expo & Convention Centre. Participants will be able to stay connected throughout the conference.
Reducing and Recycling Paper: The use of paper will be minimised during the conference. Before you print any documents, please consider if it is absolutely necessary to do so. Use double sided printing and smaller fonts.
Saving Energy: The Organising Committee will coordinate with the venues to ensure that lights and air conditioning are turned off when venues are not in use. Participants are encouraged to do the same for their guest rooms.
Food Sustainability: Where possible, catered meals will consist of menu items with low environmental impacts and available locally and/or in season and avoid over catering to reduce food wastage.
Reduce Plastic: Water dispensers will be made available at the event venues in place of bottled water.
