History of APAA Band

The initiative that led to the subsequent birth of the APAA Band began during the APAA General Assembly held in Sydney, Australia in 1997. Mr. Myung-Shin Kim, who later became Honorary President, invited APAA members and observers who were musically inclined to play together for the fun of it. He had rented a venue and some musical instruments earlier.

Every year thereafter, the Organising Committee of each Recognised Group acknowledged that the activity of the APAA Band encouraged a warm atmosphere and enhanced fellowship. It was observed that participants enjoyed free drinking, dancing and sometimes singing. At the 54th Adelaide Council Meeting in Australia on November 20, 2007, the APAA Band was recognised as an official activity of the APAA annual meetings.

The APAA Band had been managed by Honorary President Myung-Shin Kim from 1997 to 2008, Past President Patrick Yang-Oh Kim from 2009 to 2014, Jeanne Wang from 2015 to 2019 and Sung Pil Hwang in 2022. The band is currently co-managed by Jeong Won Lee and Jeanne Wang.
